Severe thunderstorms could impact the Gulf Coast today and produce damaging winds and possibly an isolated tornado.

This latest round of severe weather to hit the South erupted over northern Texas and southern Oklahoma on Thursday afternoon. Hail up to 3 inches in diameter and wind damage was reported in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area.

The storm system's cold front is now moving eastward, spreading showers and storms across the South.

The moist air needed to fuel severe storms will be limited for this system to tap into on Friday.

However, isolated severe storms can't be ruled out near the Gulf Coast in parts of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and the Florida Panhandle. Damaging winds and isolated tornadoes are possible threats.
