The University of Utah Seismology Station reported the southeastern Utah area was hit by a 3.76 earthquake at 4:12 p.m.

According to the Utah Geological Survey, approximately 56 people responded that they felt the rumble spreading all the way west to Green River and east to Grand Junction.

Utah has had 17 earthquakes with magnitudes greater than 5.5. The most recent earthquake Utah residents experienced was a 5.7 magnitude that struck near Magna on Mar. 18.

Geologic investigations of Utah’s faults indicate a long history of repeated large earthquakes of 6.5 magnitudes and greater prior to settlement, the survey reported.

This is the most powerful earthquake felt in Utah so far in 2022.
