Hurricane Ian is proving to be a costly disaster.

More than $1 billion in federal support has been provided to Florida and residents affected by the storm.

According to FEMA, $545 million has gone to households and $302 million to the state.

Some of the ways the federal funding is helping Floridians recover nearly 6000 free roofs through Operation Blue Roof, providing Disaster Unemployment Assistance, and covering hotel stay for those who need it.

Also, the U.S. Small Business Administration has provided $130 million in disaster loans to employers. The National Flood Insurance Program has paid out $ 98 million to at least 40,000 people who filed flood insurance claims.
