California Hit By Another Atmospheric River And More Storms Are On The Way Into Next Week

California has been struck by another storm tapping into an atmospheric river and the wet pattern isn't going to let up through early next week, potentially adding to flooding woes in the state.

T​he latest storm rolled into California late Wednesday into early Thursday and has contributed to flooding, debris flows, downed trees and power outages, particularly in northern parts of the state.

W​ind gusts have topped 80 mph in the higher elevations to north of the Bay Area. San Francisco and Sacramento both clocked wind gusts in excess of 50 mph.

Rainfall totals in the higher elevations of the northern Bay Area have exceeded 4 inches in spots.

Flood watches and warnings remain posted for much of California, as shown in the map below.

F​looding is likely in urban and poor-drainage areas, as well as on streams, creeks and rivers. Debris flows are also expected, especially in areas of steep terrain and in recent burn areas.

Don't attempt to drive through any flooded roadways and be sure to stay aware of the latest information if you are in a flood-prone area.

As mentioned before, this won't be the end of the storm parade in California.

A​dditional storms could pile on to the flooding concerns this weekend and next week.

H​ere's a general outlook for the timing over the next few days.

-​Friday: Much of the state should be dry, but a system could approach far Northern California with rain later in the day.

-​Saturday-Sunday: A storm carrying another atmospheric river will impact the northern half of California.

-​Monday-Tuesday: Another potent, soaking storm could arrive and impact much of the state.
