Recall Summary


Name of Product: Oreck Discover Upright Vacuums


Hazard: The vacuum's electric cord plug prong can detach and remain in an electrical outlet when the vacuum is unplugged. This poses an electrical shock hazard to consumers.


Remedy: Repair

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled vacuums and contact Oreck or their local Oreck dealer for instructions on how to obtain a free repair. To locate the nearest authorized dealer, go to "Find Your Local Store" Here.

We are conducting this recall to keep our customer’s safe
by removing products that present a potential electrical shock hazard.

How can I tell if my Oreck Discover vacuum is affected by the recall?

Look on the silver product data label on the bottom of the vacuum to identify the product model and serial number. The affected product models are UK30500 or UK30500PC. For ease of serial number identification, consumers can use the first 6 letters and numbers of the serial number to determine if they have a recalled vacuum. All vacuums with serial numbers that begin AJ2226 through those that begin with AJ2232 are impacted. This includes vacuums with serial numbers beginning AJ2226, AJ2227, AJ2228, AJ2229, AJ2230, AJ2231, and AJ2232. If your product serial number does not match or fall within this serial number range then it is safe for use and no further action is required.

How can I take advantage of the recall?

If your vacuum is affected by this recall, please discontinue using your vacuum and call our Customer Service department at 1-888-383-7000 for instructions on how to receive a free repair for your vacuum through the Oreck dealer network.

What if I do not live near an Oreck dealer?

If you are not within driving distance (30 miles) to an Oreck dealer, then we can arrange a prepaid shipping label to and from an Oreck dealer to complete the repair.

What is the problem with my Oreck Discover vacuum?

The vacuum’s electric cord plug prong(s) can detach when unplugged and potentially remain in an electrical outlet posing an electrical shock hazard.

My Oreck Discover vacuum appears to be operating okay. Can I continue to use it?

No. Even though your product appears to be safe, we are asking all customers to immediately stop using the product and participate in the recall by returning the product to your local Oreck dealer for a free repair.

I no longer have the receipt for the product. Can I still receive a free repair?

Yes. You can still return the product to a local Oreck dealer for a free repair.

How long will it take for the repair to be completed?

The repair may take place the same day or could take a few days depending on if the dealer has stock of the repair kit. We apologize for any inconvenience and assure you the Oreck dealer is working as quickly as possible to repair your product.

Can I repair the product myself?

No. We urge you not to attempt to repair the product
yourself. Please call Customer Service and/or return the product to your local Oreck dealer immediately for a free repair.
