Issue with Updating DEA Certifications

NCTracks is aware of an issue with Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Certifications not being updated on provider records due to NCTracks not receiving the DEA data file. Our technical team is working on a resolution to this issue and updates will be provided as available.

In the meantime, providers may use the following workarounds* as it applies to their situation:

Providers with current DEA certifications that are enrolling in NCTracks for the first time or re-enrolling (initial enrollment or re-enrollment applications):

  1. When completing an application, enter 123456789 as the DEA number
  2. Upload an actual copy of the DEA license upon submission of the application (under Upload Documents)
  3. Note: applications submitted with the 123456789 DEA number and no attachment (copy of DEA license or DEA designation form) will be returned advising that an upload is required.
  4. NCTracks will update the DEA number in the system

Existing providers with expiring DEA certification

Providers who have an expiring DEA certification may update their DEA expiration date to maintain enrollment requirements/prevent suspension or termination. To do this, providers may submit a manage change request (MCR) to update their DEA. NCTracks will verify the new expiration date after submission.

NCTracks appreciates providers’ patience at this time. Providers are also encouraged to look for future updates in announcements on the Providers page and via email

*Providers who are not required to have DEA certification may disregard this notice; no action is needed.
