Lightning Talk Proposal Submission

General Information

Young professionals (5 years or less since highest degree conferred) are encouraged to submit a lightning talk proposal. Any cutting-edge, breakthrough technology, relevant to the overall technical scope of the Conference, is welcome.

A panel of experts will judge the applicable talks and the winner will present their talk in the main session room on Tuesday afternoon and be awarded the Emerging Innovator Award.

Review criteria will include originality of the research, thoroughness of the technical approach, validity of data interpretation, and relevance to the overall scope of the Conference.

In general, lightning talk presenters should plan for no more than 5-7 minute presentations and one PowerPoint® slide.

Proposals will be evaluated and, if accepted, the designated point-of-contact will be contacted with scheduling information. Acceptance is not guaranteed and final presentation length, date, and time scheduled is determined by the Conference Office. Presentation length and a timeline of required due dates will be communicated to the point-of-contact upon acceptance. Presentation dates and times will be assigned after all proposals have been received.

Submission Instructions

You will need the following information to submit a Lightning Talk proposal:

  • Point-of-Contact. The person submitting the form is automatically listed as the point-of-contact and will be considered the Presenter as only one person is requested to present each lightning talk. If there is a change in the point-of-contact, please notify the Conference Office immediately at climateconf@battelle.org.
  • Lightning Talk Information. Title (used for program listing), Objective (1-2 sentences), Description (300 words max).
  • Additional Information. Please include the year of your highest degree conferred.

In addition, you agree to the following:
