Humanitarian Protections for Victims of Human Trafficking

follow along to learn about t and u visa protections for victims of human trafficking and other serious crimes.

Are you following @DHSBlueCampaign on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram? We are teaming up with United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to share more information about the T and U Visa programs, established to help protect victims of human trafficking and other serious crimes.

From August 16-27, Blue Campaign social media channels will share information about visa eligibility and benefits. For a brief overview:

  • T nonimmigrant status (T Visa) provides immigration protection to victims of human trafficking. It allows certain eligible victims to remain in the U.S. for up to four years if they have assisted law enforcement in an investigation or prosecution of human trafficking or qualify for an exception.
  • U nonimmigrant status (U Visa) provides immigration protection to crime victims who have suffered substantial mental or physical abuse as a result of a qualifying The U Visa offers immigration protection to noncitizen victims of qualifying crimes who assist law enforcement authorities in the investigation or prosecution of the qualifying crime.

This September, Blue Campaign social media channels will be sharing firsthand information and insights on human trafficking directly from survivors. Blue Campaign regularly works with survivor consultants to ensure our materials and messages accurately portray the crime. Follow along to learn more about the survivor perspective on human trafficking.


News You Can Use

HSI Operation Nets 82 Arrests and 31 Rescued from Human Trafficking Operation (ICE.gov)
A recent operation resulted in the rescue of 31 victims of human trafficking for sexual exploitation. Of the total, 14 were missing children, with the youngest child being 4 years old. Seventeen were adults.
