ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - President Joe Biden approved federal disaster assistance Saturday in the wake of the Nov. 20, 2023, landslide that killed five people, left one person missing and destroyed multiple homes.

Federal funding, grants and low-cost loans are available for property loss, housing and home repairs for those impacted by November’s landslides and mudslides. This funding is also available to the Wrangell Cooperative Association to supplement recovery efforts, the Federal Emergency Management Agency wrote in a release. Funding is also open to private organizations and businesses on a cost-sharing bases for emergency protective measures, FEMA wrote.
